Job Title: Fundraising Assistant

Position Summary

The Fundraising Assistant supports the development team in planning, coordinating, and executing fundraising activities. This role is responsible for donor communications, database management, event coordination, and administrative tasks to ensure successful fundraising campaigns and donor engagement.


Key Responsibilities

  • Donor Relations & Communication
    • Assist in managing donor databases, ensuring accurate records of contributions and contact information.
    • Draft and send thank-you letters, receipts, and other donor communications.
    • Respond to donor inquiries promptly and professionally.
  • Fundraising Campaign Support
    • Assist in planning and implementing online and offline fundraising campaigns.
    • Prepare promotional materials, presentations, and updates for supporters.
    • Track fundraising progress and prepare reports for management.
  • Event Coordination
    • Help organize fundraising events, including venue booking, vendor coordination, and volunteer management.
    • Assist with event promotion through social media, email campaigns, and community outreach.
  • Administrative Duties
    • Maintain and organize fundraising records and documents.
    • Process donations, update financial records, and work with finance teams to ensure accurate reconciliation.
    • Support grant application processes by gathering necessary documentation.


Skills & Qualifications

  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills are crucial for interacting with donors, volunteers, and colleagues. 
  • Interpersonal: Ability to build rapport, network, and engage with people at all levels. 
  • Organization and Administration: Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines. 
  • Data Management: Proficiency in database management, data entry, and potentially data analysis. 
  • Problem-Solving: A proactive, solution-focused approach and the ability to think creatively. 
  • IT Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). 
  • Fundraising Knowledge: Understanding of fundraising principles, income streams, and donor relations. 

Experience:

  • Office Experience: Previous experience in an office environment is often preferred. 
  • Fundraising Experience: Experience in a fundraising team, or with fundraising activities (e.g., events, campaigns) is highly desirable. 
  • Relationship Building: Experience building relationships with clients, supporters, or stakeholders is valuable. 
  • Volunteer Experience: Experience volunteering or working with volunteers is a plus. 
  • Customer Service: Experience in a customer service role is often beneficial.

  • Flexibility: Willingness to work evenings and weekends when needed, and to adapt to changing priorities.

Work Environment
